Im working on varget loads for my 308 picked up some 168 amax since ive heard great things about it im new to the 308 world but reload 243 and 270 so was wondering what the overall load length are you guys coming up with and how many grains are you guys using thanks in advance . ... .308 reloading data thread . I'm thinking of using Hornady #3037, the 150 grain fmj boat tail with 42.4 grains of varget and COL of 2.700; it's by the book so it shouldn't be a problem. Hope it works in my DPMS AR 10, Norinco M14 sporter, and CETME. Tuned it down to 41 grains Varget. COL 2.700.

Shoot incredibly well in the Remington as well, but no idea how much they jump there. They fall out of the case before they touch....Re: From Varget tto Win 748. Last summer, the kids and I burned up 8 lbs of W 748 shooting .223. I settled on 27.5 grains of 748 and the Nosler 50 grain Ballistic Tip loaded at mag length. At 300 yards, the shots landed on a 2" shoot and see sticker every time. This occurred at 50 degrees, and 95 degrees.
The current Nosler data for .308 WIN 175gr bullets ''DOESN'T INCLUDE RDF'S" the load data listed is for the SHORTER CUSTOM COMPETITION BULLET. (when you call Nosler & ask them for load data for the RDF'S they tell you to use the "Custom Competition Data") This would explain the slightly compressed load using IMR 4064 & the LONGER RDF BULLET.I also have a 700 w/ the factory 20" 1:12 bbl. My only pet load as of now (have some Varget and R15 I haven't had time to work with yet) is 42.3 gr IMR 4895 under 175 SMK in FGMM brass, Fed 210 primers (standard, not match), seated at 2.805" OAL. I bump the shoulder 0.002-0.003".
