Replace the TBI with a carb and try it before ditching the electronics. Leave everything plugged in the harness to satisfy the computer. Mount a TPS to the carb, a fuel pressure regulator and give it a try. Then change the fuel pump out for something meant to give the 2-3 psi you will need at the carb. The original fuel pump should be pumping close to 22psi, way too much.
