It is about 12 years old. Vent pipes are clear and within specs. Installation specs call for <25' with 8 or less 90's. It has about 18' with six 90's and one 45 on the outlet and five 90's on the inlet. The unit in question is a Rheem 90 plus (RGRA model). The manual acutally says that the combustion air source is "optional" but doesn't give a preference or make a case for either.
