As far as I can tell, disinfection of wounds "never" needs to be done, at least as long as you have sterilized bandages. The only time you would need to do it is if an infection stays on the wound for a particularly long time.

There is 'Wound' infection which appears in the health panel; It makes the wound take longer to heal, and happens when you fail to properly clean your bandages and keep the wound clean.
