Get it hot and look at the back of the motor and see if you can see where the coolant is coming from. I'm putting head gaskets in my lbz now because of this. The gasket was blows between the #7 cyl and the Coolant passage and also from the coolant passage to the external part of the head.
I had an 05 LLY and currently have a 16 LML. Both have been great trucks to me. Sold the LLY with around 175K miles, only issue I had was the reluctor wheel on the crankshaft came unbolted. Didn't damage anything, just causes the truck not to start and a pain in the ass to fix. Current LML have owned since new, currently 170K miles.Cranks forever, smokes really bad and when starts it knocks hard. I plugged in my tech II and noticed the actual fuel rail pressure reads 26100 psi weather it is cranking, not cranking or running. The desired pressure reads 5600 +. If I use the tech II and raise the desired pressure it smooths out and runs great.LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM, LML. This problem runs across the board through the 2016 models. Air gets trapped in the fuel lines, causing starvation issues. The lack of an electric low-pressure pump to move fuel to the injection pump is the culprit. Also, the fuel filter housing for the mechanical fuel pump is susceptible to cracking.However, if you are looking to keep it stock, the LLY can be a very stout engine! Once it reaches 190-210, the heater will blow hot air as long as you are driving. When stopped at a stop sign for instance, it blows cold air but the temperature gauge still reads 190-210.ppe tuner on 05 LLY problem.
