If your pipes are chrome to start, scuff them with some steel wool or 600 grit wet/dry, or bead blast the surface so the paint will have a surface to "bite" into. The beauty of that set up is that the head pipe paint won't burn ...Apply Polish. Put some metal polish or exhaust cleaner on a piece of steel wool. Apply this to the chrome with gentle, small circular motions. The steel wool and polish will help to buff out scratches and remove any residue or buildup on the pipe that dulls the shine. Use ultra-fine steel wool that is rated 0000.
