The transmission was installed using a 1984 ...IMHO, the 3.5 swap makes a lot of sense when upgrading to aluminum heads/MPFI. 3.5's are available for a reasonable price and have a lot of improvements over previous engines. The stock 3.5 puts out a lot of hp and torque as well. Biggest things to deal with on that swap would be the ECU/wiring, and modification of the oil pan to fit a 4x4.
Aug 27, 2021 · Honestly both the 1.9l and 2.0l TDI engine are MORE than powerful enough for our TJs. The Coty Built kit is designed for the BEW TDI diesel from a 2004 ~ 2005.5 Volkswagen with a TDI. It's a 1.9l engine with 100hp and 184ft/lbs of torque stock, I believe with a tune, turbo and injectors from Coty Built you get around 140hp and 252ft/lbs of torque.if you are lucky you can find complete donor cars with 200000+km for 500$, but you may have tu put some cash on the engine (i.e. timing belt, crank pulley, turbo bearings and seal, etc) 1985 samurai... diesel! 1985 samurai... diesel!
