Boss plow solenoid problems
1292 posts · Joined 2003. #1 · Oct 25, 2010. Hi guys, I have a new guy that has been plowing for several years. His Northman pump is mounted under the hood and runs from 2 toggle switches. Problem is- it won't lower. It goes up, and angles fine. Just will not lower. I can't find Northman's web page and he never had a manual with it.Feb 8, 2014 · The Boss dealer parts guy said that there are more solenoid/coil valves ($25) that goes bad compared to the valve cartg. ($66). So this sounds like the solenoid is my problem. 2 are on the way! Thanks for taking the time to help!

If the solenoid works, then you've lost power somewhere between the battery and the pump. Start removing your supply cables and clean each connection. John, I had the same problem with my old straight-blade. I too thought it was the solenoid. I took apart every electrical connection on the plow and cleaned them along with putting corrosion preventive grease on them. I also did this on the wires coming from the solenoid under the hood. If you have power at the hitch switch and the pump runs check the smart hitch solenoid for power and magnetism. If that all checks oot you can have debris in the valve, pull the valve spray carb cleaner in it and blow with compressed air.
