May 24, 2022 · May 24, 2022. #1. I am swapping a 4L80e into my 93 Chevy G20 Van. These take a LONG tube and dip stick for the transmission. I only have a 4L60 stick and tune on hand. SO do I really need to beat the bushed trying to find a van that had a 4L80 transmission and get the stick and tube from it??I had these numers saved in a file, nothing listed on the newer overdrive transmissions. GM. PG 18 hp. TH-350 36 hp. TH-400 44 hp. I have heard the 4L60 or 700r4 loss is around 55-65 HP depending on the gear ratio and size of converter, 10"-13", again, remembering reading this somewhere. oldguard, Jan 27, 2009.

I currently have an RPM level 6 trans. I feel the difference in cost between upgradding to a level 7 and a 4L80 swap is about $4,000.00.May 24, 2022. #1. They are pretty rock solid in stock form for stock applications. The 4l60 can be built to be strong, but it'll never match up to a built 4l80. Stock for stock I'd take a 4l80 any day. All weights are without converter and dry with stock components. Converter weights will be similar for a given combination with the same size converter. i.e. 12”, 9.5”, 8”. The 4L80E is very close to the same length as a 4L60E.
